THE challenge:
Creative career paths are underserved
Many traditional career paths, such as medicine, law, or finance, have an abundance of options to support all facets of the career development process and assist with entry into their respective fields. However, early-stage creative professionals lack the critical support, guidance, and industry insights needed to navigate the transition into creative fields. They need a Bridge.

THE solution
The Session: 5 Rules of The Interview
What the decision-maker across the table is looking for
We have developed & successfully deployed a highly immersive, bi-directional interactive masterclass tailored to new or early career stage creatives striving to break into the creative industry. Focusing on the most critical part: The Interview. To successfully navigate the single most critical gating moment to entering the creative industries.
01.
Pre-Session discovery
Prior to the session we can review each student, or apprentice’s area of focus to help us get a background on the session participants. We will study this prior to the session to help guide the narrative. We respect your privacy! This is optional based on the institutions own operating procedures.
02.
The Session
5 Rules of the Job Interview – A bi-directional, interactive masterclass that explains, the process, the players and the cadence of the interview. What to do, what to avoid and how to successfully navigate the very brief, yet critical gate into the creative industry. The session will turn the tables and get into the mind of the hiring manager, and get to the heart of what the hiring manager is looking for. How to stay true to yourself, while connecting at their level, and delivering what they need to see & hear. A fully engaged session, students are prompted throughout the session. This gets them out of their comfort zone and into the process. It elevates the student role from passive listeners to active contributors.
03.
Session Q&A
This is where many students get the greatest value. What’s on their minds? What are their hurdles? or perceived blockers? We will help them navigate. We encourage an active dialog. Students will learn from the other students questions and ensuing dialog.
04.
Post-Session Support & Access
Participants need not take notes! Instead, to help them stay engaged in the session, we will provide a walk-away materials of all key advice and points covered. Most importantly, we offer each student an individual, support session with the instructor to help them succeed in an upcoming interview. Send us the job description, we will help you! We give the student an edge on “the day.”and provide insight and support specific support.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions that we hear all the time
Still have questions?
Early stage career professionals that need a bridge into the industry. Students, apprentices, mentees, trainees, or fellows. Most if not all career creatives face the dreaded “interview” at some point. We want to give them the playbook, help them avoid pitfalls, and give them the keys to success.
If you have actual decision making, hiring managers with decades of experience in the industry hiring creative positions for major media companies like Disney, ABC Television Network and A+E Networks, then kudos! You are in the minority. But if you do not, and want to help your students with truly rare insights into the most delicate and critical part of breaking into the industry, then you do need this!
The sessions are run by THE decision maker that has made the call in hiring hundreds of roles over almost two decades in New York and Los Angeles. This is not an HR professional, not an academic. This is “one of them” who is also a hands on creative that transitioned to executive management roles with the key responsibility of deciding who, and who not to hire. It is a structured yet free flowing session where future interviewees can get full access to the perspective of the decision maker.
No, this sits adjacent to any relevant curriculum. And need not be part of a curriculum. It can be for apprentices, mentees, or similar cohorts. It is not a lecture, it is an interactive, bi-directional session where students are actively engaged and coached. Active engagement and Q&A are a big part of the session.
These are live, remote video conference sessions with supporting visuals presented throughout. Students both on campus and online can access. We can conduct the session using your organizations preferred platform such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet or any other platform required. If there is no preference we will use Google Meet. We strongly recommend attending with a standard computer, or laptop, or at least an iPad / tablet. Phones are possible but limit the experience.
Ideally class sizes are roughly 15 students. This gives the expert a chance to get a sense of the class participants, and help them with custom tailored insights. Above 20 students we recommend splitting into additional session. These are meant to be provided once per a student’s tenure at your institution.
An average session is 1 to 2 hours long, however, we do not cap sessions. If there is an active dialog with many questions we welcome this! We will continue on reasonably as long as needed to make sure the students get the insights they need. The breakdown is usually: 45 minutes of dialog from the expert, 15 to 25 minutes of Q&A, and then open discussion and commentary.
